Connect external tools with a SiloBox API key
Create and replace retrieval credentials, locate API guidance, and avoid mixing provider keys.
Choose the right credential
A SiloBox API key authenticates external requests to SiloBox, including retrieving published prompts. An OpenAI API key connects SiloBox to OpenAI and is managed separately in AI Providers. A Manychat API token authorizes access to Manychat. These credentials are not interchangeable.
- Select the correct workspace and open SiloBox API Keys. A workspace administrator can create and revoke keys; ask an administrator if those actions are missing.
- Choose Create key, give it a recognizable name, and create it. Copy the full value immediately to your secure credential storage. SiloBox stores it hashed and does not reveal it again.
- Follow the API documentation and the prompt's Integration instructions for the operation you need. Copy the displayed production URL and exact prompt slug. Published prompt retrieval uses
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SILOBOX_KEY; the API also acceptsx-api-key. Replace the placeholder with your key only inside the integration's secure settings. - Use Verify production retrieval in the prompt integration screen when appropriate. This is a real production retrieval and uses one retrieval credit. Confirm the reported version is the published version you intended.
For a Manychat automation, use the Starter Template and its setup instructions. Verify the Automation ID and channel routing instead of treating the prompt retrieval example as a complete messaging flow. The API documentation describes request fields and operations; keep those field names and identifiers exactly as documented.
Replace or revoke a key
The list shows a key prefix, creator, creation date, and active/revoked status, not its full secret. If the full value is lost, create a replacement, update and verify the integrations using it, then revoke the old key. Revocation takes effect immediately and calls using that key fail. Keys marked Managed by Manychat connection are managed through that connection.
For authentication errors, check workspace, active status, copied value, and authorization header. Do not use an OpenAI key in the SiloBox authorization field. Never paste keys into prompts, screenshots, or support messages. If exposed, replace the affected credential and update its integrations.
